Deserving Ekurhuleni youngsters who have dreams of exploring careers in the hospitality industry underwent a rigorous selection process to be granted all-expenses paid scholarships to further their tertiary studies by the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT), one of Emperors Palace’s CSI programmes.

On 29 January 2025, the group had their final interviews with the Palace of Dreams’ Chantal Croaster (Groups & Conventions Manager), Harriet Khambule (HR Consultant) and Peermont Training and Development Manager, Malebo Mpepela who awarded six bursaries to worthy candidates.

After receiving the good news the grateful recipients, Providence Phillemon of Vosloorus, Tshegofatso Malefane of Brakpan, Ntombi Hlenyetwa of Tsakane and Thando Mbuli, Thato Mnguni and Khaya Yende, all of Thembisa checked into the Swiss Hotel School’s residence in Johannesburg to start their journey towards obtaining their Bachelor of Hospitality degrees.

In addition to getting their tuition and accommodation expenses covered, receiving their books, a laptop and a stipend the Trusts also provides a comprehensive mentorship programme for scholarship recipients to enable them to cope and develop new skills during their time studying. The programme covers study skills, emotional intelligence and employability. Monthly mentorship meetings are also held with the students to ensure that they receive the much-needed socio-psychological support required to increase their chances of graduating.
