Reign Debuts at Emperors Palace
New contemporary eatery ushers in new culinary era at the Palace of Dreams
Peermont’s Emperors Palace in Kempton Park opened it’s newest culinary destination on 1 December 2022. Reign replaces the long-standing Aurelia’s Restaurant which closed in July, and establishes a new trendy food destination for lovers of quality cuisine. Reign is a full service destination eatery that offers a contemporary spin on classic dishes that are complicated by the finest of SA wines and choice crafted cocktails and bubblies.
‘Aurelia’s has always been a favourite for fine dining, but since COVID the public has been more discerning and looking for more contemporary settings which offers basic food made well,’ says Peermont Food and Beverage Manager Tiaan Schultz, who pioneered the project.
Construction started in July 2022 under the design guidance of Sketch Studio, who have multiple years of experience in reshaping and revitalizing trendy dining spaces. Reign encompasses a fresh, new design fusing greens and earth-tones with brass and tile, complimented with natural motifs and textures. Located adjacent to the 5-star D’oreale Grande hotel, Reign showcase an extortionary view of the lush hotel gardens and iconic fountain.
Manning the kitchen at Reign is Chef Themba Bawuti, one of the top Chefs in SA. He has honed his craft under top chef mentors such as André Hill, Sisa Nomtshongwana, Bevan Webb, Annamarie Robertson, Stephen Du Bruyn and Henry Vigar, and services his passion on a plate.
‘At Reign we are passionate about contemporary culinary trends, blending imagination, innovation and poetry into our dishes, as well as our ambiance and service,’ says Schultz.
Reign is open daily and serves a variety of contemporary breakfasts, light meals and main dishes.
